Conference on Home Economics Under the Smith-Hughes Act A conference of women interested in the supervision of the schools and training of teachers for Home Economics under the Smith-Hughes Act was held in Chicago on June 26th preceding the meetings of the Home Economics Association. The assistant director for home economics education of the Federal Board participated in the conference, which was arranged for the purpose of answering questions regarding the SmithHughes Vocational Education Act; also to afford opportunity for the discussion of the problems that have arisen this year in the development of vocational home economics, and to benefit by the experience of those present in the making of plans for carrying out the program of part-time and evening school instruction, proposed as a war time measure. The following subjects were discussed: "The Home Management Course in the Program for the Training of Teachers," "Supervised Practical Work and Home Projects in Secondary Schools," "The Program of Home Economics Education Under the Smith-Hughes Act," and "The Plans for Part-Time and Evening School Instruction."
