We subjoin a list of the Grand Jury of Youghal, at this date, as supplying us with the names of the leading inhabitants: Cofpinger Portingall James Walsche Pierce Hoare Patrick Collins John Cofpinger Richard Kearnie Edward Gough William Naole Richard Fitzgarrot. Thomas Browne Hugh Slyman John Uniacee William Wright id. page 45.J 1613.--7 June. The Corporation having received a Precept for choosing two representatives in parliament, proceeded on this day to an election. Four candidates were put forward, and at the close of the poll, the names stood thus: 26 ai)iflls of goqgW Coppinoer (edmond) 62 Forrest (john) 53 Gosnold (henry) 41 Ronayne (thomas) 12 The first two were declared elected. Mr. Coppinoer, in the month of October following, being obliged to proceed to England for further service, a tax of 30 to defray his expenses was levied on the town, by general consent of the Court of D'Oyer Hundred, id. pp. 47 k 58. 1613.--1 Oct. The following curious order of freedom was this day made: "By general assent and consent of the Assemblie here present, Thomas Geoffrey, barber, alowed and sworn a ffreeman, in considerasion thereof he hath promised and undertaken to tryme every ffreeman (toties quotics) at the rate of sixpence sterlg. per annum; and having further taken his voluntarie oath not to deale with any merchandiser to the prejudice of the merchautes of this towne, as appertaining, &c." Geopfry was brought before the Grand Jury, 22 Oct. 1314, as a regrator and was in consequence disfranchised.
