When one takes into consideration there are but few men in the profession who can write a truly scientific paper, and when he does write and read one, he gen erally has his "labor for his pains" as very few can discuss them intelligently, we are afraid to "second the motion." The majority of those who even undertake such a discussion, confine themselves to the stereotyped phrase of "great pleasure," "thanks," and "grateful acknowledgement," "aid" and "intention to follow," &c ad. lib. etc. Those of us so fortunate as to have attended the clinics at St. Louis, Buffalo and the "Great Odontological," of Chicago as well as the continued success for years of the N. J. State Society Clinics will not be able to "see things" in the same light. We saw the crowds these clinics drew and the "Scientific Papers" could not get a "Corporal's Guard" together except in Chicago. The latter was a "Natural" result, being a "Windy City." "We have "authoritative" information that the "Great and Only Trust-Buster" of the dental profession has succumbed to the alluring enticements(?) of the "Dental Trust" and is begging in humble tones to be "taken on the inside without conditions." We wonder how much of the "stock" is held by the profession(?) and if the holders' motives, or the "majority holdings" have fallen from grace? Evidently Dr. Kirk's "Ethics of business" has had effect. It reminds me of the old story of the Quaker's advice to his son: "GET IT."
