Myril Oliver Hoag, was a major league baseball outfielder for the New York Yankees and other teams. Hoag was born in Davis, California. He played from April 15, 1931, until September 16, 1945. He batted and threw right-handed. He had a lifetime batting average of .271 with 28 home runs and 401 RBIs. In 1939 he made the American League All-star team with the St. Louis Browns. That year, he batted .295 with 75 RBIs and 202 total bases. He came in 31st in the MVP voting, Joe DiMaggio coming in 1st. He was 5th in the league in stolen bases in 1942 with the Chicago White Sox. He finished his career with 59 stolen bases, an average of 9 a year
