Description

The following is a guide for trout fishermen within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as preferred by Paul E Danel, Sr. It was inspired by requests from Paul's sons, Paul, Jr. and Keith, when he shared with them about the many trout streams that he was privileged to fish over a lifetime. He has also included a few personal memories that he experienced while fishing these trout streams over the years. This book, is by no means the typical story of the glory of a fly fisherman, or a catch and release fisherman. "While I dabbled in fly fishing over the years, this is the story of a "Spinning Rod" fisherman that caught my share of trout, filleted and ate them for supper. My wife and children all loved eating our catch." The streams are listed by county in alphabetical order. Directions to the streams start from Greater Johnstown area near the Cambria/Somerset County border line at Windber, PA.show more

Paul was born in the small coal mining town of Johnston City Illinois in 1933 at the beginning of the "Great Depression." He was the youngest of six sons and one daughter of Morris and Mary Danel. Morris and his family traveled back and forth between the coal fields of Illinois and Pennsylvania looking for work over the years. They finally settled in the coal mining town of St. Michael, Pennsylvania where Paul grew up. Paul met the love of his life Helen in 1952 in Windber Pennsylvania. They were married in June of 1956 and were blessed with two Sons, Paul & Keith and a daughter Robin and they have six grand children. God willing they will celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary in June of 2016. Paul's interest in writing was developed at the age of seventy four, when he wrote the life story of his father Morris, titled "My Fathers Path" Encouraged by his wife and family to continue writing, he has "dabbled" in a few short stories over the past seven years.show more
