Description

The Story Mrs Wilkinson is blissfully happy with her four chooks, Charlotte, Maureen, Violet and Shirley. She fails to see how others perceive their behaviour and the problems they cause. A change of circumstances, as she goes to live with her brother in the country, solves the problem. She never does realise the impact of her chooks on the poeple who live around her - who really have been very tolerant! The story allows echoes in the mind of the reader as they wonder how the same story might have been told by the neighbours. The Author Leone Peguero had written a number of educational and non-fiction books for both children and adults, but it was her short novel for younger readers Mervyn's Revenge that made her name known nationally. It was an Honour Book in the 1991 Book of the Year Awards. Leone teachers at Box Hill Tafe in Victoria. The Artist Mike Spoor was born in England and had worked there as a potter, a fine artist and lecturer. He moved to Queensland to become well-known as an illustrator of books for younger readers. His first book for Random House was The ABC of Loving Yourself. He has since returned to the UK with his family. Sales Points * Humour * Cla
