More Higher Skills from Reading Logically
This book is written especially for those students who have finished Reading Logically Level Three, Higher Skills. However, it is written for early readers, so can be used as a reading and activity book for other students, also. As the students read the stories, they develop their reading skills with "When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking," and that an "e" at the end of a word makes the previous vowel say its name. There's also a lot of practice written into the stories concerning the soft "c," and the sounds of "oi" and "ow." There are many stories and poems, a few crossword puzzles, and several other activities, such as homophones, "From Sounds to Words," "Compound Words," animal riddles, alliteration, and more! You'll notice a lot of words at the top of the page. These are more difficult words, but the student has been exposed to almost every concept in the first three levels of Reading Logically. I would rather have too many words to assist the student, than not enough. There are four to six short stories, about the same theme, grouped together as a little book, in order to help the student become comfortable with chapter books. In addition, several stories have questions to help with reading comprehension. Each of the three little books is followed by several pages of enjoyable activities. Simple illustrations add interest. I hope you enjoy this book!
