This book is probably not for you. Dedicated to the social historian of the 23rd century, it makes heavy demands on the contemporary reader: there is no real narrative, the plot is surreal, and if you still remember the difference between sodomy and procreation, you are, at any rate, of the wrong generation. There should have been material here for a great literary satire, but a persistent mixture of impiety, defiance and inherent malice, have prevented me from writing it. Instead, I have created a memorandum peopled largely by individuals of no redeeming ability. Everyone will understand that there are serious difficulty in publishing this. My editor denounced it in terms so strong that my regular publisher declined to commission it. I was vague on sources, dates and places, apparently, and careless, even reckless, in the use of fake news. But if the gospel of John is a work of fake theology, this is a book about extreme human idiocy, not a record of Jesus' life. Do I mean 'idiocy' as in the 'Perennial Scottish Independence' campaign whose most clamorous eminence is Nicola Sturgeon? Absolutely not, I mean human ignorance - the most toxic condition known to man - as in Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Dave Davis, Liam Fox and a 1bn deal with the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). Our dear friends of the New Scottish Enlightenment [NSE] have never attempted anything remotely so idiotic. And not for want of trying! Nor has Jesus Christ. Up is down, wrong is right. Women walk on water instead of men. Bear with me, this is history. The Moonshine Memorandum is peopled by politicians, major oddballs, and minor celebrities; by Richard Dawkins, failed intellectuals and false prophets; by Prof. Brian Cox, phony stargazers, Channel 4 News and politically correct dates from hell. Some names have been changed to protect the innocent. If you are not named you should not take umbrage.
