In this autobiographical collection of story poems, Debra J. Ackerman writes with zest and great compassion, sharing her own experience of the path from deep sorrow into peace and light. Drawing on her varied life experiences - a farming wife, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, a lover of the outdoors - Mrs. Ackerman offers more of the hearty Midwest wit and wisdom that characterizes her first collection, Inside My Window. As she writes, "Poems are like good company / In the hands of stranger." The poems collected here make each reader into a dear friend, with tender and humorous tales of farm life and family togetherness. At the same time, Mrs. Ackerman shares with beautiful frankness a widow's struggles with grief and loneliness - honest, stirring, and ultimately hopeful. Mirrors of Deep Reflections is one woman's lighted candle, offering a thread of hope to readers in need of healing.
