Roy was a member of the Franklin Rotary Club, member of the Board of Directors of the Franklin Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Macon County Social Services Board of Directors, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of Macon County Employment Security Commission, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Angel Community Hospital, Director of First Union National Bank, President of North Carolina Automotive Wholesalers Association, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Baptist Retirement Homes of North Carolina. Roy and Doris worked together daily as they owned and operated Auto Parts and Equipment Company. They were a team in their work, as well as in their service to the Lord.
