He shall be bound to pay due attention to his own barrels, and to brand them of their proper measure and not otherwise, on the forfeiture of his work and in addition three times the value thereof. Thirdly. He is ordered again to brand anew all the barrels in the brewers houses on the first of May with the mark of the Year 1658, for which he shall receive one stiver a piece. Fourthly. He shall be bound to accommodate each and every one without delay or hindrance and for this purpose remain within this City at his lodgings, or going out to leave word, where he shall be found, and comport himself as much as possible free from blame. Fifthly. He shall be allowed to demand and receive two stivers each for what may be offered him to be branded; on condition of paying stIict attention to their measure, that being neither too small nor too large. ' Sixthly. The branding of barrels is granted to him, but the increas ing or diminishing of the fee for each barrel shall remain at the discretion of the Burgomasters. Finally and lastly. He shall promise and swear to behave himself faithfully and honestly in this office, without shewing or committing any manner of favour or disfavour. And to the aforesaid office is elected and chosen Jan Jansen van Breestee, cooper, who has taken the proper oath of fidelity. Thursday 21.' March. In the City Hall. Present the Heeren Paulus Leendersen vander Grift, Olof Stevensen Cortlant. The Schout Nicasius de Sille appears in Court, stating, that Pieter T aalman had requested him to imprison Thomas Jongh, as he cannot get any money from him according to judgment.
