That we thank God for his goodness in permitting us to assemble for the ninth time, for the prosperity He has vouchsafed to us during the past year, and that we reaffirm our determination to adhere to the principles of total abstinence and prohibition. 2. That as a Union we hold unswervingly to our principles of faith in the Divinity of the Lord jesus Christ and the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures. Further that we remember that ours is a Christian organisation, and that we must therefore carry on all our departments of work on Christian lines.. We desire to record our deep sense of the world-wide loss sustained through the death of our beloved Queen Victoria, and of our reverent sympathy with King Edward VII. and members of the Royal Family in their bereavement. Also our gratitude for the benefits that have come to women during her unique and beneficent reign, and for her beautiful life, which has exalted womanhood and made the ties of home more sacred. 4. We declare our allegiance to King Edward VII., and pray that his reign may be prosperous and conducive to everything that is for the highest welfare of the British Empire. _. That We urge upon all our members the importance of preserving the Sabbath as a day of rest and doing all they can to create public sentiment in favor of the abolition of Sunday trading, travelling, and public excursions, which deprive many employes of their God-given right to a day of rest. 6. That we pledge ourselves to do everything in our power to suppress the enormous and growing evil of gambling in all its forms. 7.
