I have also to thank Professor T. W. Arnold for the extreme care he has exercised in transliterating the Oriental names in a systematic manner. Many of my readers in France, Germany and elsewhere will perhaps have a difficulty in recognising many of the names, but Professor Arnold has so far as possible utilised the system adopted by the International Congress of Orientalists at Geneva in which I hope will, in future, come into more general use.
