This book is an essential tool for professionals wanting to bring mindfulness-informed practices into their lives and incorporate it into their work and organizations. * It begins by providing a rationale for stress reduction vis-a-vis an accessible review of the research regarding the neurophysiological effects of stress and its deleterious impact on health, behavior and interpersonal relationship dynamics. * The remainder of the book is devoted to the innovative BREATHE program. Each chapter explores one aspect of BREATHE (breath, recognizing sensations, experiencing emotions, appraising the situation, taking time, humor and engaging others) through engaging personal stories, professional anecdotes and cutting edge research. * Chapters 4-10 include simple, highly impactful practices that correspond to the chapter's theme. These tools are particularly designed for those wanting to incorporate mindfulness-informed practices into their lives and professional practice.* These principles and practices are as much about the inner journey as they are tools to create satisfying, successful and sustainable personal relationships* This is an accessible, pragmatic book that provides tools from yoga, Buddhist and mindfulness traditions in a secular, evidence-based format.

Review quote

"This book gives us a guide that synthesizes not only Dr Bullock's vast personal experience but incorporates the latest research from neuroscience and psychology. Her profound BREATHE model allows us to incorporate this knowledge to not only enhance our relationships but to fundamentally change our lives for the better." Dr James R Doty, MD, FACS, Professor of Neurosurgery, Stanford University School of Medicine; "This book is a must have resource for leaders and organizations. Dr Bullock offers a compelling account of the most up to date science on stress, its impact on relationships and what to do about it. Mindful Relationships is remarkably readable. Even the science had me turning the pages as quickly as I could. I highly recommend it!" Deborah Reidy, Chair, Society for Organizational Learning NA Council; "I can hardly endorse this book strongly enough. Dr Bullock has given us a book packed with wisdom, cutting-edge neuroscience, and with her own very unique combination of gifts as a psychotherapist, a scientist, and a committed practitioner of the contemplative arts. Most importantly, for me, it is an extremely practical and user friendly guide." Stephen Cope, Senior Scholar in Residence, Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, Author of The Great Work of Your Life: A Guide on the Journey to Your True Calling.
