The Miles Between
Studying abroad-learning a new language, adjusting to new cultural norms, recognizing and appreciating difference-is as terrifying as it is wonderful. An excellent opportunity for the adventurous, the outgoing, and the brave. For shy, backward Ryu Hashida-mediocre student and skilled footballer- nothing could be more terrifying. He's not like his teammate and partner Ikeda, who's smart, serious, and has had a career plan in place seemingly since primary school. But when Hashida receives the chance to study and play soccer in the United States, without the shelter of his teammates, parents, language, and culture, he starts to discover that maybe the familiar isn't what he wants out of life after all.
