Middle Class Gentleman, Adapted from Moliere
The Middle Class Gentleman is a humorous play by Moliere, the great French playwright of the 17th Century who was to France what Shakespeare was to England. This play provides a glimpse at a man who wishes to be more important that he actually is. His vanity and ambition lead him to make an utter fool of himself in pursuit of power and privilege which he does not deserve. It is hilarious as it reveals the weakness in human nature that desires to elevate itself beyond others.
