Truth about Cancer The truths about cancer of the womb that every woman should at all times bear in mind may be summed up as follows: 1. Cancer of the womb can be cured at its beginning. 2. Its first signs are: Bleeding, a little on much, at unusual times; a white discharge without apparent cause; any kind of distress at the seat of the womb. 3. Its later signs are: Excessive bleeding at the monthly period, with irregular flowing between the periods; or, after the change of life, a watery discharge from the vagina; an oflfensive discharge; loss of fleh; general weakness; a waxy appearance of the skin. 4. When one or more of these signs appear in a woman over 35 years of' age, she should consult the most skillful physician or surgeon available and insist on a thorough vaginal examination. 5. If, by careful methods of examination, cancer is shown to be present, a proficient surgeon should be placed in charge of the case and-the woman should co-operate with him in his effort to relieve her by prompt surgical treatment. 6. The cautery, Roentgen ray, radium, and the curet are not curative agents when used alone, but when used after the complete removal of the diseased organ, they act as a further safeguard to the patient, and, therefore, should not be substituted for the knife in beginning cases when skillful surgery promises the only sure cure. 7.
