Every practitioner in tropical countries is familiar with this disease, and has no doubt often had to regret the want of interest shewn by his professional brethren in a disease, which may almost be termed as entirely tropical. We understand pretty well the external conditions, which bring about this disease, but the fact that whether dysentery is due to any particular micro-organism, or whether it is infectious, has not yet been definitely decided.
