Review quote

This life-affirming tearjerker more than deserves its recognition as one of the most memorable books of the last decade * Woman & Home * You might have seen the film, but we promise the book is better - you won't be able to forget quirky Lou's joruney with Will as she becomes his caregiver and their relationship blossoms. You will be needing tissues * Living North * Arm yourself with tissues for this incredibly emotional bestseller * Best Special Series * Utterly absorbing and blissfully romantic * Daily Telegraph * The only book that ever made me cry. I wept so much I thought I might not stop! -- Lisa Jewell This truly beautiful story made us laugh, smile and sob like a baby - you simply have to read it * Closer * A compelling novel of life and death decisions and unlikely affections. It's magical and heartbreaking, but doesn't shy away from difficult emotional realities. Waterproof mascara essential * Marie Claire * A timeless love story * Red * Destined to be the novel that friends press upon each other more than any other . . . Moyes does a majestic job of conjuring a cast of characters who are charismatic, credible and utterly compelling; Lou and Will are a couple who readers will take into their hearts as they did One Day's Emma and Dex * Independent * A deftly plotted narrative populated with likeable engaging characters . . . A bittersweet story about love, learning and letting go. A tremendous read * Daily Mail *

Loved this book! The story could be true and all the characters were so well described and when I was reading the book, it felt like I was watching a movie. Everything was so vivid. A good read and I would recommend it to anybody needing a good laugh and a good cry at the end.show more

In my opinion judging a novel can have its benefits, as books like these always suprises me when I finally give it a go. I was blown away by this novel! At the start it was slow to progress into the novel, but once I got introduced to Will I was immediately spell-bound. this was my 1st Jojo Moyes book, and it had me laughing and crying. It makes you look at both sides of the assisted suicide debate, and had me questioning my beliefs. I really loved the book, and was left thinking about it for days afterward.show more

I have taken ages to review this book, and even this will be short and sweet. While I wasn't completely smiling and in love with the end, and things didn't tie up how I wanted them too, everything in this novel stays true to the story that needs to be told. If you're looking for a glossy perfect story, this isn't it. The guy, Will, has problems and man he was a *meanie* for a lot of the time, but I saw through that because he like the rest of the characters have so much depth, he couldn't have been nice and all swoony with his situation and history. Lou, the lead female narrator was a favourite for me, too, because she had strong opinions that gave depth to her. But more than that I was with her and what she was trying to do the whole novel, but as things fell apart in her plan, I felt all her emotions and was with her through every peak and trough. This book mirrors the difficulties in life so well, I was astounded. I commend Jojo for creating such a deep, moving story, one with so many layers, I can't even begin to describe the story fully and do it justice. To sum up, this book is on my Best Everrr shelf for many reasons, one being how totally blown away I was by the journey and ending and that I haven't forgotten it even now, months after I finished. 5++ stars!show more
