Description

Mcallister is the story of a young woman, Violet, who is empowered to enlist in World War I after facing ridicule surrounding her gender. Violet Mcallister is widely beloved throughout her hometown in Connecticut, as she comes from a highly respected family. In a time where many women were expected to stay home and learn the craft of motherhood, Violet found work as a model for war propaganda posters. When faced with the tragedy of watching the men and boys around her be drafted, along with the harsh words of a crude artist, Violet becomes inspired to join the war effort herself and fight overseas. Mcallister depicts Violet's journey through fighting the Great War of the nations, the Great War of women, and the Great War existing within herself. Having to overcome misogyny, gender stereotypes, and the social expectations in which she defies, Violet's story is one of empowerment, learning, and growth.show more

About Jamie N Myre

Jamie Nicole Myre has been an aspiring author since the first time she held a book. Holding a boundless world that was ironically bounded in a novel was something so priceless to her, and she knew she would one day be telling stories herself. Though only 17 years old, Jamie has begun her career as a peer advocate and leader through her public speaking with CarePlus NJ and The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She is a central character in the mentoring and leadership documentary, MORE, and will be published as a contributing author in a book of short stories. Jamie is an avid literature enthusiast who values the journey a book can take its reader on. More than anything in the world, she aspires to change lives through her stories. She wishes to spark some sense of compassion or understanding; cause someone to feel understood, while causing someone else to understand. Her biggest hope for her writing is that it will empower, inspire, motivate, and spread a sense of love throughout the world she lives in.show more
