Iona finds the mysterious and powerful Eric alluring, even though she has vowed never to reveal her Shifter side, lest her mother pay the price for hiding her all these years. Our customer reviews

This is a book 4, but it can totally stand on its own (though I do recommend reading the rest anyway). I love that there's some face time and references to characters from the previous stories, but not in a way that would make the reader feel like they've missed something. I enjoyed the development of the romance between the couple as well as the conflict(s). However, while I enjoyed the conflict, it was pretty predictable, but not enough to take the edge off the gravity of a given situation or really make you like the book any less. The steam in the story was oh so sensual. I love the teasing they give each other, that the others give them, and just the chemistry between Eric and Iona is so deep. That being said, I do have one complaint. In the previous books, some of the shifters have mentioned "mating" in their shifted forms in their past, but it is never depicted. This is the first one in the series (not counting the ebooks as I've yet to read those and can't speak for them) that does, but thankfully Jennifer Ashley has written it beautifully so it's brief and reasonably chaste before they simply shift back to their human forms to finish their fun. I think the best part was the birth of a cub. I fought like mad not to be a big sap and cry...and lost the fight. Ultimately the combination of new characters being introduced, old ones revisited, and lots of fuzzy, pretty kitties (ok and a few wolves and bears too) just sucked me and now I am totally immersed in the world making me a permanent fan! A story full of government conspiracy, shifter politics, family dynamics, and steamy romance, Mate Claimed keeps you turning the pages unable to put it down. Excellent addition to the series and I can't wait for more!show more

I was ecstatic when I was given Mate Claimed to read and review! Jennifer Ashley's Shifter Unbound series is one of my favorite's paranormal romances. She has such fascinating characters and a unique shifter plot line that I just gobble up her books. Mate Claimed focuses on Eric and Iona's developing romance. Eric is a widower and the leader of the nearby Shiftertown. He discovers that there in an uncollared shifter living among the humans one night while visiting a bar. Only Iona's mom and sister know that she is a half shifter so she is shocked when Eric approaches her. What she doesn't know is that without a shifter family to guide her, she could become feral and dangerous. It is up to Eric to show her that life with a shifter mate is just what she needs before it is too late. I love the sense of family and camaraderie between the characters. Jennifer Ashley is a wonderful author and has created such a fascinating world for us to visit in her books. If you love Paranormal Romance you have to read this series. And the teaser chapter for Tiger Magic is something that has to be read several times... I cannot wait until it is released!show more
