Excerpt from The Maritime Medical News, Vol. 10: A Monthly Journal of Medicine and Surgery; November, 1898 In this case, as far as I am aware, there was no disease of vagina, there was no disproportion between the size of the foetal head and pelvis; the child was a female, and there was no osseous irregularity upon the - inner surface of pelvis. I can only conclude that the vagina was not so distensible or elastic or as capacious as usual, and that giving way in the portion already referred to as being structurally weak, the rent extended as it did making a deep and dangerous wound and calling for prompt measures to save life.
