Excerpt: ...or to erect aud make any new or other waterworks within any of the places aforesaid, upon such ground as he or they shall purchase, aud to receive and take water out of the River of Thames for supplying all and every the said waterworks already erected, or such other waterworks as he or they shall erect and make. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, that the said William Gulston, his heirs aud assigns, and his and their servants, agents and workmen at all times hereafter shall have liberty, power and authority to dig, break up and open the pavements and grounds in all or any of the streets, alleys, lanes, ways and other public passages lying and being in the places aforesaid, for continuing, repairing aud laying of pipes and trunks from the said waterworks already erected and made, or from any other waterworks which he or they shall hereafter erect and make, and to lay and derive water-branches or quills of lead or wood from all or any of such pipes or trunks, and to alter and repair the pipes, trunks and branches so laid and made or to be laid aud made for conveying of water to the inhabitants aforesaid. Provided always that such digging or breaking up of the streets and other public places do not and shall not obstruct or hinder the ways, so as there shall not at all times be left convenient passage; and that the said William Gulston, his heirs and assigns, at his and their charges from time to time within reasonable time, do and shall fill up and make good the said ground aud pavements so by him or them broken up; aud also that the said William Gulston, his heirs and assigns, do not or shall not at any time hereafter demand, receive, or take any greater rents, rates or prices from the said inhabitants for supplying and serving...show more
