May 1, 1883, the company leased the New York, Pennsylvania & Ohio, Salamanca to Dayton & Cleveland, and branches, 587 miles in all, increasing the mileage worked to 1,661 miles. The main line is from Jersey City to Buffalo; company also owns steam ferry between New York and Jersey City. The company also controls the Chicago & Atlantic, Marion, O., to Chicago, 268 miles, and the Cincinnati, Hamilton & Dayton, 354 miles. These roads are not included in the statements below.
