The plain narration of a truthful mcident like the above, is worth all the argument in the world in favor of the principle of life-insurance. Among the many compani, s that have bem originated for the purpose of msuring life, the Connecticut Mutual, of Hartford, occupies a a very favorable position. It has just completed its third fiscal year and now has a capital of $500,000. During the months of November, December, and January last, 1494 policies have been issued, of which in January 701 were taken. Their terms are more favorable than any other company with which we have become acquainted. All premiums amounting to fifty dollars or upwards on policies running seven years or longer may be paid one-half by note, to remain a debt on the policy until canceled by dividend. The annual dividends, for which scrip certificates are issued, have thus far been equal to the notes, amounting to fifty per cent, on the premiums. The certificates of February, 1847, are now redeemed on presentation at the agency. The office of the company is under the superintendence of Mr. W. S. Dunham, Agent, at No. 54 Wall-st. opposite the Exchange.
