It may not be out of place here to mention that the word is spelt- in No. V. which tends to shew that that ancient copy comes from the Western or North-Western side of India, where 4 is popularly used indifferently for, and with the same sound, viz. kha. V. 119, h. 1. I have altered into rftTr for the same reason as already giren in the note on v. 103. V. 122, h. 2. In all the other authorities, including a and b 37 R. S. the term is spelt . Both the comment of the Calcutta edition and of No. II. read JpSHl in this distich. V. 124, h. 1. Mr. Wilkins' Ms. is supported by Nos. V. VI. VII. and by b 37 R. S. in reading, while the Calcutta edition, No. II. the Bombay copy, and a 37 R. S. read with us jh)4 - The word 's explained in the comment of Me'd'ha'tithi on v. 122, to mean, the coating or smearing the ground or floor with a plaster of cow-dung, tyc. The word is not found in Mr. Wilson's more
