Crop Reports Encouraging and Farmers Have Money to Build-Retailers Look for Good Trade. KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. II.--Fall is here and lumbermen should soon be getting an active call for lumber from all over the Kansas City territor_v. If the dealers do not have a good trade during the next 60 or 90 days, it will not be because the people of the southwest are not pros perous enough to build. Reports from all parts of the territory as to crops and the prosperous conditiongof the farmers are numerous, and the daily papers are full of accounts of big bank deposits and the ample resources of the farmers of the southwest. The crop stories during the past few months were mostly scares and crops of various kinds are good and will return to the farmers as much as the crops of any previous year. As a matter of fact, the most of the retail dealers are looking for a satisfactory demand for the balance of the year and at numerous points the demand has picked up nicely since September I. It must be taken into consideration that the farmers are still busy with their field work and it will not be until October that trade will be generally active over the territory at large. From then on it should be brisk until cold weather shuts it ofl', and if the same tine weather exists as during the latter part of I906, the dealers will be moving lumber from their yards clear up to Christmas. Wholesale Business Is Listlcss. Wholesale conditions have not changed materially since September I, and the demand for yard stock is dragging more than expected.
