Excerpt: ...as aforesaid; such five dollars being contributed in such a manner as to be entered in the congregations accounts, with the name of the adherent so contributing, shall have a vote for the election of said board of trustees. 5. The several congregations incorporated under this Act, and the board of trustees elected to-administer the affairs of such congregations, shall be subject to the rules and regulations of the Presbyterian church in Canada, with regard to all matters, except so far as the same may be altered or abridged by this Act. 6. The annual meeting of each congregation incorporated under this Act, shall be held on the third Wednesday in January in each year, or within ten days thereafter, at the hour of eight o'clock in the evening, or at such other hour as the by-laws of the congregation may provide; provided, always, that when the meeting is held on any date other than that first above mentioned, notice of the holding of such meeting shall be read by the minister from the pulpit on two successive Sabbath days before the time of holding ' such meeting. At this annual meeting the trustees of the church for the preceding year shall submit a full statement 8. The number of trustees for each church shall not be less than three nor more than twelve, as may be decided by the church at any annual meeting thereof, but a majority of the trustees shall always be communic-ants of the church, in good standing, unless the Presbytery for good reasons, may permit otherwise in particular congregations. of all moneys received and expended by them during their term of ofiice, and the trustees of the church for the then ensuing year shall be elected by the members and adherents of the church entitled under this Act to vote at such...show more
