About Katie Evans
Katie Evans is an editor in Books for Children and Young Adults at Penguin and a regular craft feature writer for the Herald Sun Home magazine in Melbourne. She also runs her own vintage craft and textiles business, Rusty Rose. Craft is a big part of her family life and she shares this passion (along with an out-of-control stock of vintage fabrics) with her mum and two kids. After dropping out of a BA in fine art many years ago, she travelled the world with a childrens' theatre company, hosted parties for kids, and worked in too many restaurants as a waitress before coming back to the thing she loves most - creating beautiful things for herself and others. Katie feels it's important to encourage children to engage in a creative activity - especially with their friends - which promotes the sharing of ideas and builds on a host of other invaluable skills. Katie lives in inner Melbourne with her two crafty children, a crafty cat, and a clever, craft-tolerant husband.
