Listening to God is a series of six essays, several of which were initially written and presented to Dr. Mace's church family at Machias Valley Baptist Church in Machias, Maine. The noise and diversions of a society that is progressively permissive and that no longer subtlety but actively opposes a personal, vibrant faith in God, make it difficult to "hear" Him above all the "other voices" and distractions. This book discusses some of the situations in which God may be found. In a day when we are barraged with materialism and relativism, it is difficult to keep focused on God, even when our hearts call out for His presence amidst our needs. He knows where we are even when we do not know Him. He remembers who we are even though we may be patiently waiting to hear from Him. He will honor the faithful heart even when we are thwarted in our desire to serve Him. He is "for us" even when we know opposition. He has entered into our circumstances and offers us freedom to be all that we should be.
