Previously he was an independent consultant providing network and security administration services including network planning, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security implementations. Mann has also provided professional education in the UNIX/Linux field. During his 22-plus-year tenure as a UNIX and TCP/IP professional, he has also worked for Sun Microsystems and Digital Equipment Corporation.
