Review quote

Given the resurgence in youth choirs it is good to see new repertoire emerging that neither patronises nor overstretches young singers. Bob Chilcott's Like a Rainbow is a good example of such a piece; opening strikingly with the text set in octaves, and progressing through various vocal 'orchestrations', the piece is brought to a very effective close with a slower, broader and quieter section, The vocal parts are rhythmically alive and although written for
SSA, they do venture into four parts occasionally, but would not prove of any great difficulty to a competent choir. The whole piece is underpinned by a steadily burbling piano part running in quavers. * musicteachers.co.uk Sept 01 * This lively number, based on a Guaymi dawn song, is marked 'strong and bright', and has some wonderfully rhythmic writing and a real sense of energy, spirit and purpose. The syncopated lines do much to drive the music forward and, as we have come to expect of Chilcott, there is a wonderful variety of writing within the piece. I really do feel as if there is a winner here. * Music Teacher March 2002 *
