Description

This sweeping novel of the post-civil war South opens with a death but continues on as the tale of innumerable human lives. Based on the true story of real-life southern families, "Life, Church, Love" takes the reader into an uncertain new century where kinfolk and friends show the reader that we must work together to thrive. This multigenerational saga is filled with characters to fall in love with--from the faithful Emily to the tomboy Kinsey and the southern gentlemen they make their homes with--we will read on with newfound appreciation of the circle of life as these characters grow from children to adolescents to adults with children of their own. With the rich details of the everyday, "Life, Church, Love" also weaves an expansive tapestry our country's history with its unpredictable twists and turns as it details monumental events such as the Great Depression and the attack on Pearl Harbor. Through the complex lives of South Carolina flatlanders, we come closer to understanding our country, our faith, and the unbreakable bonds that make us family.show more
