This series of elementary-level books looks at different explorers and their early years. How were these voyages planned? Land and regions that were reached and explored are discussed, as well as any results of these explorations. These books contain a timeline, words to know, a further reading list with Internet addresses, and an index. Each book will be in chapter format, and use simple sentences. Each book will have color and black and white illustrations.Who set out in 1804 to map the American West? Lewis and Clark did. From St. Louis, Missouri, to the Pacific Ocean, Lewis and Clark explored the Louisiana Territory with the Corps of Discovery. The Corps of Discovery traveled about 8,000 miles, mapping the rivers and lands as they went. They met and became friends with many American-Indian tribes and saw wildlife that was new to them.
