About Michael Verticchio

Michael P. Verticchio holds a B.A. degree from Illinois College at Jacksonville, and an M.A. degree from the University of Illinois. He grew up in a coal-mining community in Illinois where he attended a country school and his widowed mother sent him and his two brothers to college. After receiving his degree in education, Mr. Verticchio became a teacher in a country school, then taught high school chemistry and physics in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, and later was a high school principal and county superintendent. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and has worked as a chemist, rela estate broker, and income tax practitioner. The author currently resides in Gillespie, Illinois, where he taught both elementary school and high school, and was a high school principal.show more
