She was looking in his face. For a moment Frank saw her eyes grow large and wild; then all at once the whole face quivered, and without uttering a word she burst into tears. He turned away hurriedly, leaving Mr. Arnold at the open door--longing to go back to her, but feeling that he dared not go. Yet, when a few minutes had passed, the desire that impelled him to return to her became too strong to be resisted.
