Be it (f7'L'lCl!?0," by the senate and house 0l'representativesof the republic of Texas in congress assembled, That there shall be established a company under the name and style of the "Colorado Navigation Company," with a capital stock of' one hundred andftwcnty-five thousand dollars, with the privilege of enlarging or increasing the same to two hundred and thousand dollars, to be divided into shares of one hundred dollars each, forthe purpose of clearing out a channel susceptiblc of navigation by steam boats or other craft for the Colorado' river. ' ' Sac. 2. Be it further enacted, That books shall be opened on the first day of February next, to receive subscriptions for said capitol stock at the following places, to wit: --At the town 01' Matagorda, at the house of E. Mercer, in Colorado county, at the towns of Columbus, La Grange and Mina, under the superintendance of three commissioners at each place, to wit: at the town of Matagorda J. T. Belknap, A. L. Clements and S. Mussina; house of E. Mercer, Thomas Rabb, E. Mercer and William Heard; town of Columbus, Ll. W. E. Wallace, Robert Brotberton and Stephen Townsend; town of La Grange, J. H. Moore, N.
