AN ACT directing the removal of the nuisance on Tenth street west, north of New York Avenue. Be it enacted by the board of aldermen and board of common council of the city of Washington, That the sum of one hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be, and the same is hereby appropriated, out of the funds of the Second and Third wards, for the removal of the nuisance north of New York Avenue, on Tenth street west, caused by banking the water up said Tenth street, by filling in New York Avenue; said money to be paid in equal proportions out of the funds of the two wards, tmder the direction of the commissioners of the said wards. Approved, May 30th, 1840. CHAP. 140. 9 AN ACT for the relief of William B. Wilson. Be it enacted by the board of ablermen and board of common council of the city of Washington, That the fine imposed upon William B. Wilson for an alleged violation of the law of this Corporation, in relation to the enclosures of streets, &c., be, and the same is hereby remitted: Provided, Said William B. Wilson pay the cost of prosecution. Approved, May 30th, 1840. CHAP. 141. RESOLUTION for the appointment of a committee to represent the stock standing in the name of this Corporation in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company. 9 Resolved by the board nf ahiermen and board of common council qfthe city of Washington, That a committee, to consist of the Mayor and two members of each of the present boards, to be chosen by ballot, be appointed, who, or any three of them, are hereby authorized and empowered to represent and vote on the stock standing in the name of this Corporation in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, at the general meeting of the...show more
