Excerpt: ... or casks, nor in the vending or coopering of casks, nor in the vending of salt used for the purpose of packing or repacking any beef or pork, under a penalty of twenty dollars for each offence. And if said inspector shall refuse, or shall unreasonably ne-, gleet or delay to discharge the duties devolved on him by virtue of his oflice, (he being personally required to discharge them, ) he shall for every oifence forfeit and pay five dollars. 12. In case of absence from the city of the inspector, or of any inability on his part promptly to discharge the duties required of him, the Mayor is directed to appoint a deputy inspector for such time as he may think proper; which deputy shall discharge the duties, be subject to the penalties and restrictions, have the powers, and be entitled to the compensation provided for the inspector. ' 13. The inspector shall be entitled to the sum of twelve and a half cents for each barrel or half barrel fee he may inspect as a compensation for his services, and also to the further sum of twenty-five cents for each cask he ay empty and weigh for the purpose of ascertaining iether it contains the quantity of beef or pork required by law.
