Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: February 15, 1912 It is not my purpose to discuss the probability or correctness of the above account, further than to say that the boy had fulfilled the requirements of God, inasmuch as he had asked in faith, nothing wavering; consequently it may reasonably be assumed that he was heard by the Father. By accepting this vision as a reality one is forced to conclude that the religious institutions of that day (1820) were but inefficient fragments of the true and perfect church of our Savior; that the church founded through the instrumentality of Joseph Smith contains the true plan of salvation, and consequently is responsible for, the dissemination of the gospel to all the world. It will be profitable now to examine some evidence, scriptural and historical, relating to the question of a universal apostasy.
