Description

From the author of A Walk to Remember comes a moving tale of redemption and first love when a rebellious teenager decides to spend the summer with her estranged father in a North Carolina beach town.Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church.
The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story of love on many levels--first love, love between parents and children -- that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that love can break our hearts . . . and heal them.

Our customer reviews

I've never really loved the other Nicholas Sparks novels the way I love The Last Song. Yes, I liked them okay but not really to the point that I'd read them again. They're a bit slow and dull though the romance is always great. But somehow, The Last Song is different. This is now my favorite Nicholas Sparks novel. Each character is unique. The story itself is interesting. It's kinda personal to me because the main character Ronnie and I have something in common. It actually hit a raw nerve so I felt more connected and familiar with her character. The development of the story is okay and the lines are funny. The re-connection between Ronnie and her dad is heartbreaking yet beautiful. Their shared passion made it all work out in the end in spite of their differences and past mistakes. Ronnie's tough but compassionate and loving personality is amazing as well. It just shows that beneath a young woman's rebellious and strong facade lies a heart full of love and care for her family, for the people around her and even for the animals. I also liked Ronnie's brother and of course, Will. He's an essential character to the story. He helped Ronnie go through the things that eventually led to her healing and forgiveness. He's not just the love interest guy but he's also a much-needed friend. It was an inspiring read. Family and music and romance mix well together in this book. Fans of Nicholas Sparks would definitely enjoy another hit.show more
