The Last Guardian
Diane Reed works for the wildlife relocation centre, she returns from an assignment, and her obnoxious boss Geoff immediately sends her to North Wales to look at a forest where oil has been found. When she arrives she meets the owner of the land, a man called Gethen Owen, who she is almost immediately attracted to, and who appears to know personal things about her, and exactly what she is thinking. He introduces her to the forest and all it's wonders, including a small herd of thirty red deer, who appear to hold the key to the secrets of the forest, secrets that she discovers involve her family. she also meets Alan Howell's, who she immediately dislikes, and she soon discovers that he is a nasty piece of work who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. A game of cat and mouse with Alan's two thugs ensues, and reaches a climax when Gethen has to fight for his life, and take a life to ensure the survival of a community that has been hidden for five hundred years.
