Description

When John Rain learns that his former lover, Midori, has been raising their child in New York, he senses a chance for reconciliation, perhaps even redemption. But Midori is being watched by Rain's enemies, and his sudden appearance put mother and child in terrible danger. To save them, Rain is forced to use the same deadly talents he had been hoping to leave behind. With the help of Tatsu, his friendly nemesis in the Japanese FBI, and Dox, the ex-marine sniper whose laid-back style masks a killer as deadly as Rain himself, Rain races against time to bring his enemies into the open and eliminate them forever. But to finish the job, he'll need one more ally: Israeli intelligence agent Delilah, a woman who represents an altogether different kind of threat ...

Our customer reviews

Have read two of Barry Eisler\'s books - The last Assassin and its predecessor One Last Kill. Books that depict the dark and often furious world of assassins should be written by people who know their stuff. Barry seems to have been there and has many T-shirts. To start with, his prose is excellent - superior certainly to his equally real life able competitors such as Andy McNab, Duncan Falconer and others. Secondly, I like my \"Hero\" to have some reality and vulnerabilities (Lee Child\'s Jack Reacher - though excellent is almost untouchable and beyond reproof). John Rain, Barry\'s character, whilst quite formidable, is human and this comes through in the plot. Thirdly, Barry\'s professional knowledge from which he draws upon for his fiction, is augmented by his equally detailed referenced sources whom he credits. All this makes for a consistently superior work in credibility and quality of almost literary prose. I have bought all the rest of his books and will savour them slowly over a period of months. Enjoy!show more
