Mount Otto's Academy is a boarding school for girls that prides itself on the young women who enter through its illustrious doors to learn, and enter society as Ladies. One such young woman is Lottie, a child from a poor background who dreams of action and adventure. Eager to make friends, she is accepted by classmates from her school house, the gregarious Violet and her gang, and falls in with their adventure quest to cause as much mischief and mayhem to the rival house as possible. Little do they know, however, that they are about to encounter more than they could hope for during this year at Mount Otto's, as the secret affairs of the head teacher Ms Honeysett, the caretaker Albert Haunt and the cook Physalis, play into a larger mystery drama that leads Lottie and her friends on an adventure quest none of them will ever forget. Together the teenagers journey through secret tunnels and out to a mysterious village not seen in living memory, all while trying to dodge the wrathful, watchful gaze of Ms Itchy, the universally hated PE teacher. But all is not right at Mount Otto's. Amidst the promise of action and adventure at the start of the year, Ms Honeysett is taken suddenly ill, and the secret affairs of the teachers seem suddenly more nefarious - was this illness deliberate? Has the beloved teacher been removed? And who is the mysterious Vincent, who has taken her place and is trying to make changes to the eponymous boarding school for girls? Determined to get to the bottom of the atmosphere of mystery drama they suddenly find themselves in, six teenagers journey where no Mount Otto's school girl has ever gone before, breaking old feuds and forging new alliances as the mystery of the cook and the caretaker, the head teacher and her replacement, all come together against the backdrop of the end of year school play.
