It is located in the eastern shore of Wabamun Lake, south of Wabamun Lake Provincial Park and the Yellowhead Highway The name derives from kapesiwin ( ), the Cree word for "campground." The population of the Summer Village of Kapasiwin according to its 2009 municipal census is 15.In 2006, Kapasiwin had a population of 39 living in 28 dwellings, a 160.0% increase from 2001. However, this population has since been revised by Statistics Canada to 15. The summer village had a land area of 0.31 km2 (0.12 sq mi) and a population density of 48.4 /km2 (125 /sq mi) using the revised 2006 population count.
