Joseph Quincy Krumgold (April 9, 1908 - July 10, 1980) was a United States author and scriptwriter. He was the first author to receive the Newbery Medal for excellence in American children's literature twice. Lois Lowry, Elizabeth George Speare, Katherine Paterson, and E. L. Konigsburg have also achieved this honor. Krumgold was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and was immersed in the world of movies from a young age: his father operated movie theatres.
