"The Rt Rev John Tristram Holland, OBE (31 January 1912 - 9 October 1990) was an eminent Anglican priest in the 20th century . He was born into an ecclesiastical family and educated at Durham School and University College, Oxford . Ordained in 1936, his first post was a curacy at St Peter's, Huddersfield. He then held incumbencies at Featherston, Upper Riccarton and New Plymouth before being appointed Bishop of Waikato in 1951, a post he held for 18 years.
