John Middleton and the Norwich School
When the artist John Middleton died aged 29, few had seen his luminous watercolour and oil landscapes of Norfolk, Kent and other areas of the British Isles. A precocious talent of the Norwich School, John Middleton was Inspired by Nature, and his close friendships with artist Henry Bright and early photographer William Bolding. He developed his distinctive, fresh, modern, intensely felt style, which has delighted the generations since his tragically early death in 1856. "John Middleton and the Norwich School" explores the life and career of this Norfolk-born genius, and his place in England's first cohesive provincial group of artists.
