John Loomis Chamberlain (January 20, 1858-November 14, 1948) was an American army officer, born in New York. He graduated at the United States Military Academy in 1880. He entered the army as a second lieutenant and continued in the military service until his retirement in 1921 as a major general. He took part in the Spanish-American War 1898-1899; the fighting with the Sioux Indians 1900-1901; the struggle against the Moros of the Philippines in 1903; and World War I, inspecting the American Expeditionary Forces in France in 1918.
