Joseph Nicodemus McCarthy (December 25, 1881 - January 12, 1937) was a Major League Baseball catcher. McCarthy played for the New York Highlanders in 1905 and the St. Louis Cardinals in 1906. In 16 career games, he had 9 hits in 39 at-bats. He batted and threw right-handed. He attended Niagara University. McCarthy was born and died in Syracuse, New York. Major League Baseball (MLB) is the highest level of professional baseball in the United States and Canada, consisting of teams that play in the National League and the American League. The two leagues merged in 2000 into a single MLB organization led by the Commissioner of Baseball after 100 years as separate legal entities.
